The abalone shell is an extremely strong shell made up of a few whorls (or turns of the gastropod shell). The small dotted holes over the body of the shell are where air was taken in. Abalones come from all parts of the world and have beautiful blue, green, silver pearlized undertones. Size varies between 6″-7″.

Cleansing, All Purpose
To use an abalone shell, first you will need smudging sticks, herbs or incense powder to place inside. To help protect the natural shine of its interior, sand can be placed inside the shell first, followed by the herbs, sticks, etc. Once your items are inside, simply light your herbs or smudge using a match. Rest any handheld items such as sage or palo santo inside the shell to collect any ashes or embers as they burn.
To bless a person or object, use a feather to brush the smoke around them. You can also walk around a space with the sticks or herbs, allowing the smoke to waft into the corners and ceilings.
Abalone shells naturally have holes in them. Please be vigilant and careful at all times when using to ensure hot embers do not fall through onto flammable materials.
If the smudging sticks have been resting in the abalone shell for a time, please use caution while handling as the shell may get hot.
